Who was St. Rollox

St. Rollox is a variation of St. Roch (variously spelt as Roche or Rock).  Roch, who is believed to have lived between about 1350 and 1380, was the son of a wealthy merchant in Montpellier, France.  Orphaned at the age of twenty, he decided to give away his wealth and devote his life to serving God by serving his fellow man.  He cared for plague victims in the North of Italy and eventually contracted the plague himself.
